Resorts World Sentosa affects employment, tourism

SINGAPORE – The Genting Group came to the South Florida community buying $500 million in land along Biscayne Bay with the goal of opening a destination casino resort.

At the time, nobody knew much about the Malaysian company behind the ambitious plan.

Local 10's Christina Vazquez traveled halfway around the world to find out. She visited Genting's property on Sentosa Island in Singpore to give viewers a tour of the site Genting officials often refer to as a template for what they want to bring to Miami.

While in Singapore, she also met with government and union officials to get their take on what the impact has been on jobs and tourism.

What she discovered is that perhaps there are lessons Florida can learn from their debate, which mirrors what is happening right now in our community.
