FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – In the wake of the Connecticut school shooting, Broward lawmakers will be meet Tuesday to discuss the possibility of placing officers at all of the county's public schools.
Last month, South Florida honored the victims and families of the Newtown Elementary School massacre.

"With a child who is still in public schools, as a parent of three daughters, it's something that you think about constantly and how devastating this is," said Broward Superintendent Robert Runcie.
The focus has now shifted to how to preventing a tragedy like the one in Connecticut from happening here.
Before Broward can move forward with the plan, there are several issues that need to be ironed out, such as funding.
According to published reports, State Senator Eleanor Sobel has brought up the idea of a new property tax that would pay for police at all public schools in Broward County.
This is the second attempt being made in Broward County for an upgraded safety plan at schools.
Last month the school board voted "no" on a new safety plan due to lack of money.
"It boils down to funding right? That's the bottom line," Runcie said.
