The Seven Mile Bridge in the Florida Keys reopened Thursday morning after a fatal crash.

The Florida Highway Patrol says two cars crashed on the northern end of the bridge, forcing crews to shut down U.S. 1 in both directions for several hours.

One person was killed and two others were airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Troopers are investigating the cause of the wreck.

The crash occurred around 9 p.m. Wednesday.
