Small plane lands in Everglades

2 on-board uninjured

MIAMI – The student pilot of a small plane landed the aircraft on a gravel road in the Everglades Wednesday morning after the engine started sputtering.

Miami International Airport officials say the Cessna 152 aircraft was from the Top Gun flight academy out of Tamiami Airport.

The instructor reportedly made the decision to put the plane down about six miles southwest of Tamiami Airport.

No one was injured.

Just before 1 p.m., the plane was flown out safely.

It's not yet known why the engine malfunctioned.
