BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – The Broward Sheriff's Office says a small plane made an emergency landing Tuesday evening on U.S. 27 just north of I-75.

Police said a 1959 Beechcraft 18 flew out of Executive Airport in Fort Lauderdale with two people on board who were conducting training exercises.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the two had to make an emergency landing in the northbound lanes of U.S. 27 at mile marker 39, approximately six miles north of I-75.

The two pilots, identified by FHP as 54-year-old Stuart A. Hanley from Hollywood, Fla. and 67-year-old Ronald Russell from Auburn, Maine, were not injured.

The aircraft, owned by Aztec Airways, was moved from the roadway to the boat ramp near mile marker 39, said FHP.
