Miami Beach Police say a man barricaded himself inside his home Thursday morning after firing off his gun.
They say the man was drunk or hallucinating on drugs when he fired a shotgun outside of his home along 71st Street and Rue Granville.
Officers say no one was injured, but the man had refused to leave his home since around 1 a.m. His wife and teenage son were able to get out of the house.
At around 9:15 a.m., the standoff ended peacefully and the man was taken to the Mt. Sinai Hospital for an evaluation.
A large police presence around the home affected Thursday morning traffic.
According to Miami-Dade County, schools in the area were not impacted.
