MIAMI -

Miami-Dade police say two teenagers were playing with a spear-gun Thursday when it went off, hitting one of them in the head.

The incident happened at 5230 SW 139th Place in Kendall in a small body of water just north of the house. Police said two 15 and a 16-year-old boys were in the water loading a spear-gun when it went off, striking the 16-year-old in the head.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue confirmed that the teen was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center.

The spear was still protruding from the teen's head as he arrived at the hospital, however he was still alert and talking.

Police said it was an accident, and they do not expect to bring charges.
