John Torres charged with battery, resisting arrest without violence

MIAMI – Police arrested a 16-year-old boy accused of stabbing another teenager with a pocket knife.

Police arrested John Torres on Wednesday. He was charged with aggravated battery and resisting arrest without violence.

According to an arrest affidavit, Torres got into a fight with Oscar Pauli and stabbed him in the lower abdomen. The incident happened at 10869 Caribbean Boulevard about 4:35 p.m. Wednesday.

Pauli, 15, was transported via air rescue to Miami Children's Hospital in stable condition.

When officers arrived, they saw Torres running northbound on S. Dixie Highway, police say. When he was ordered to stop, he kept running. He was later apprehended.

Police say Torres confessed to stabbing Pauli.
