Tour de Broward raises funds for Children's Hospital

Runs, rides aim to raise $300k for cardiac center

MIRAMAR, Fla. – The Tour de Broward kicked off Sunday to benefit the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital.

Multiple bike rides and runs are happening until 1 p.m. Sunday at Miramar Regional Park. All of the events will be raising money for the Cardiac Care Center at the hospital. The center is home to one of two Pediatric Heart Transplant programs in South Florida. The Tour de Broward is trying to raise $300,000 for the hospital.

Local 10's Kristi Krueger rode in the 50k Ride that began at 7:15 a.m. Sunday.

She said the riders were faced with excellent weather conditions including a warmer temperature compared to last year. Kristi said the ride in 2012 was cold and rainy.
