According to the arrest affidavit by the Miami-Dade Police Department, on Nov. 10, 2012, Sierra confessed to taking his wife and her two daughters to Mall of the Americas on West Flagler Street.  It was there that they got into an argument and Sierra stabbed Gladys multiple times.

Police said Sierra then drove the family back to the home on 7300 NW 4th Street.

"When they get to the home, he locked the two girls in one bedroom and then he locks himself and Gladys in another bedroom. While in the bedroom, he took a plastic bag and he asphyxiated Gladys. After he did this, he then raped her," said Miami-Dade Police Lt. Rosanna Cordero-Stutz.

The report states that Sierra then took the eldest daughter, Julia, out of the room and suffocated her. He then suffocated Daniela.

"He then returned back outside and raped the older of the two girls. The rapes were post-mortem," said Cordero-Stutz. "The acts that were performed were probably some of the worst we've seen in a very long time."

A neighbor found the bodies in the closet three days later. Gladys' missing car was found near an apartment in Kendall where Sierra was staying with his mother.

It was revealed on Friday that Machado had filed domestic violence charges against her current husband Alberto, as well as her ex-husband, Michael Padrino, who is the father of the dead girls.

Sierra has been convicted of crimes several times, including for selling cocaine and possession of a firearm. In 2011, he was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Sierra was released from jail in June.

In addition to the first-degree murder charges, Sierra faces two counts of sexual battery -- one count of with a deadly weapon and and one count of on a child under 12 years of age.
