Everyone's heard Indiana Senate candidate Richard Mourdock's view that abortion should be outlawed even in cases of rape because it is something that "God intended to happen."

So what about the Congressional races that are being heavily contested right now in South Florida? What are the candidates' stands on this sudden lightning-rod issue? With the election just 10 days away it's time to start digging into some issues and we'll start with this one.

Well obviously the Democrats are pro-choice, so that's clear. As for the Republicans, one anti-abortion candidate who is very clear that he favors exceptions in cases of rape and incest is Republican U.S. House candidate Adam Hasner. The stance of embattled Congressman David Rivera on the issue isn't clear. He's clearly very strongly anti-abortion but I can't find his opinion on the rape exception. His campaign said it would get back to me with an answer, which I'll post when I get it.

One who opposes abortion rights in cases of rape and incest is Karen Harrington, the Republican challenger of Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz. Project Vote Smart reports that she responded to a political survey in 2010 in which she answered "no" to the question: "Should abortion be legal when the pregnancy resulted from incest or rape?"

A visit to her website confirms her position. On abortion, she writes: "

Okay ... where do you stand?
