A woman charged in a hit-and-run crash that resulted in the death of a University of Miami student in November 2010 will not serve jail time after taking a plea deal.

Valentina Hubsch, 47, pled no contest to leaving the scene of an accident with injuries on Friday.

According to police, Hubsch hit Jared Paul Jones, 21, on November 21 while he was crossing Red Road in Coral Gables. The University of Miami student died days later at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Hubsch will serve 18 months of house arrest and 18 months of probation. She must complete 250 hours of community service, including talking to students about the consequences of leaving the scene of an accident. Hubsch must also pay $600 in court costs.

Last month, a Miami-Dade County judge rejected a similar plea deal for Hubsch.
