Woman stabbed to death; 1 in custody

Miramar Police are investigating after a woman was stabbed to death in a residential neighborhood.

MIRAMAR, Fla. -

Miramar Police have one person in custody after a woman was stabbed in the street on Monday afternoon while walking her dog.

It happened in the area of Lasalle Boulevard and Sable Palm Drive around 5 p.m. Monday.

The victim as 38-year-old Shuneeque Shawntrell Jones.

One of Jones' family members told Local 10 she is heartbroken by their loss, saying Jones didn't deserve what happened, and they hope justice can be served.

After the stabbing, police put the neighborhood on lockdown, searching for their suspect in garbage cans, and swimming pools. They found the man a short time later, not far from the scene of the crime.

Police have not released any information about the person they have in custody or a motive for the stabbing.
