OPA-LOCKA, Fla. – One man was killed in a shooting outside Opa-locka City Hall on Monday afternoon, according to the Miami-Dade Police Department.

The shooting happened about 12:25 p.m. Officers found dozens of bullet casings near the victim, who was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he died.

"It's crazy nowadays," said Jimise Fowler. "You can't even step outside your house and it's a shooting going on."

A block away, a driver said two men crashed into him, then ran away, leaving behind an assault rifle.

"The guys ran right into the car, jumped out and ran and dropped the gun on the floor right there, then kept on running," said Martin, who declined to give Local 10 his last name. "We see them running and that's when we saw the officers. They started roping off the area."

"My baby, she got to come home to this and she's only four," said Fowler. "That's crazy."

The SWAT team was then called out to an apartment at Northwest 135th Street and 32nd Court. Three people inside it were taken into custody.

"They're being taken back to Miami-Dade police headquarters for questioning to see if they have any possible involvement or possible information," said Lt. John Jenkins.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
