Ambulance struck while responding to pedestrian accident

Truck collides with front of rescue truck, prompts another ambulance

MIAMI – A second ambulance had to be called out after an ambulance was struck by a truck while responding to two pedestrians who were hit by a vehicle.

At about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, two men were standing in the center turning-lane attempting to cross Southwest 8th Street near 64th Avenue when they were hit by a vehicle.

Paramedics were called to transport one of the victims and as a Miami Fire Rescue ambulance pulled off, another pickup truck drove in its path and collided with the front of the rescue truck.

A different ambulance had to be called to complete the transport.

The patient has head injuries from being hit by a vehicle but is expected to be OK. The man he was with has minor injuries.

All drivers stopped and were allowed to leave. No one was hurt in the accident with the ambulance.
