Anthony Barrow accused of bringing rifle, ammo to Miramar High School

Police say they found gun, ammo in teen's SUV

MIRAMAR, Fla. – A 19-year-old senior at Miramar High School was arrested Monday after he brought a rifle and ammunition on campus, police said.

Miramar police said they received a tip from the school principal that Anthony Barrow had a gun in his SUV that was parked in the student parking lot.

Police said they searched Barrow's 1997 Ford Expedition and found a rifle under the seat. Police said they also found two fully loaded magazines in the seat.

Local 10's Roger Lohse said police told him the gun and SUV belong to Barrow's stepfather.

Police said the principal made the discovery while investigating why students were gathered around the SUV in the parking lot.

It's unclear if the teen knew the gun was in SUV when he left for school Monday morning, but police said Barrow admitted to the principal that he had something in the car he shouldn't.

Barrow is a star offensive lineman on the school's football team.

He was being held at the Broward County main jail on $1,000 bond.
