Arrest made in fatal shooting of prospective home buyer in Fort Lauderdale

BSO says Vincent Stanley killed man being shown home for sale last month

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A man who shot and killed a prospective home buyer in Fort Lauderdale has been arrested, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.

Vincent Stanley, 51, of Lauderhill, faces one count of first-degree murder in connection with the Feb. 26 shooting.

BSO spokeswoman Dani Moschella said a real estate agent was showing Kenol Jean, 51, and his wife a newly renovated house for sale at 2729 NW Sixth Court when a gunman entered the home and shot Jean. He was pronounced dead at Broward Health Medical Center.

Detectives obtained surveillance video that showed the shooter speaking to the driver of a white Pontiac Grand Am shortly before the shooting and then getting away in the car after.

Moschella said detectives eventually found the car, which had a stolen license plate, and its driver, identified as Israel Brown.

Brown, who was taken into custody Monday on an accessory charge, led detectives to Stanley, who was arrested Wednesday, Moschella said.

During the investigation, detectives learned that the car had gone to the same house the morning before the shooting as another real estate agent prepared to show the home to another couple. An unidentified man walked in and waited for the agent and his prospective buyers to enter, but they felt uncomfortable and waited outside until he left, Moschella said.

Stanley told his accomplice that he tried to rob Jean for his gold chain, but the victim rushed at him, so Stanley shot him, Moschella said.

Both men have extensive arrest histories in Broward County, Moschella said. Stanley was being held without bond at the main jail, while Brown was being held on $15,000 bond.
