Arsonists set fire to man's business, home in Miami

Police: Victim suffered $100,000 loss in inventory

MIAMI ā€“ Police are searching for two men who were captured on surveillance video shortly before setting fire to a food market in Miami.

The incident happened at about 2:45 a.m. on Nov. 7 at the Five Sons Food Market on Northwest 22nd Avenue and 58th Street.

According to police, the store owner, Iyad Awayssa, 38, had closed his business for the day and went to the back of the store where he also lives to get ready for bed.

Awayssa told detectives he woke up due to the heavy smoke and fire.

He was able to escape the building without suffering any injuries.

The fire caused about $20,000 worth of damage to the business/home and Awayssa said he lost about $100,000 in inventory.

Police describe the arsonists as two black men between the ages of 25 and 30.
