Assisted-living facility residents moved after gas leak

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – A propane gas leak forced 103 residents and staff members of an assisted-living facility in Lauderhill to move to another wing of the building.

A construction crew cutting sidewalk outside the The LENOX on the Lake, located at 6700 W. Commercial Drive, cut the 900-pound propane tank on Tuesday morning, according to Lauderhill Fire Rescue.

Broward Sheriff's Office Hazmat team responded. The hazmat team burned off the propane in the existing tank so they could replace it with a new tank.

No injuries were reported.
