Authorities searching for owner of shih tzu rescued from Miami canal

MDFR: Dog had no tag, chip

MIAMI – The Miami-Dade Fire Department is looking for the owner of a shih tzu, who was rescued from a Miami canal Monday morning.

Firefighters Jorge Anzardo, Alex Figueroa and Victor Gomez rescued the dog from a canal on Southwest 137th Avenue and 104th Street.

The dog has no tag or chip. Fire officials said she is well-groomed and they believe she may belong to a home nearby.

The dog will be picked up at the department's headquarters in Doral by Animal Services at 5:30 p.m. The owner of the dog will need to contact Animal Services to claim it.
