A woman walking her dogs was mauled by a bear around 8 p.m. Monday night in Central Florida, according to Seminole County Fire Rescue officials.
According to Fire Rescue officials, the 54-year-old woman was walking her pet dog when a bear attacked her, causing significant wounds to her face.
The woman was able to run to a neighbor's house and 911 was called, officials said. She was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious facial injuries, but her overall condition is unknown.
Officials have spotted the bear and will attempt to catch it or possibly put it down, if need be.
The dogs were not harmed, officials said.
Officials said late Monday that they spotted the bear but were unable to capture it. Wildlife officers have set a trap as they continue to search for the animal.
Several bear sightings have been reported in the area.
