Bicyclist dies after crash in Tamarac

Deputies say man hit while waiting on his bicycle to cross street

TAMARAC, Fla. – Deputies say a man in his sixties has died after he was hit by a car while waiting to cross the street on his bicycle.

The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 6300 block of North University Drive in Tamarac.

Preliminary information, according to deputies, indicates 41-year-old Lacey Daniels was heading northbound on North University Drive in his Ford Ranger when he collided with the bicyclist, who was stopped at Landing Street.

The bicyclist was waiting to cross University Drive in a westbound direction, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.

Tamarac Fire Rescue transported the bicyclist to Broward Health Medical Center where deputies said he was pronounced dead.

Deputies said the bicyclist's name is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin as the investigation continues.
