FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -

City officials say no one was injured after a boat collided with a bridge in Fort Lauderdale on Friday.

The 90-foot boat was closing in on the Las Olas Bridge at 12:45 p.m. before it collided with the bridge.

According to preliminary reports, the boat's gearbox failed, city spokesman Matt Little said.

There were eight people on board, along with two wooden pirates. There were no injuries, but Little said there was damage to the bow sprit and foresail.

The boat is reportedly a Turkish-built wooden ketch.
