Detectives are investigating a case of road rage that police say involved an off-duty Department of Homeland Security agent.
At 1:30 p.m. Saturday, police said the off-duty Department of Homeland Security agent was driving east on Glades Road in the 6000 block with his wife and three children in the car.
The off-duty agent told police he was cut off by a red car.
The driver of the red car drove into the Nordstrom's parking lot where police said he parked in front of the store in order to pick up another passenger.
Police said the off-duty agent parked in front of the red car and got out of his vehicle with his wife.
When the off-duty agent approached the red car, police said the driver drove off, possibly hitting the agent and/or the agent's wife.
Boca Raton police said the off-duty agent fired one shot at the car, striking the rear quarter panel.
The driver of the red car drove home to Pompano and called his wife, who authorities said then called 911. A short time later, police said the driver of the red car came back to the scene and was cooperating with detectives.
Those with information about this incident is asked to call Det. Ron Mello at 561-620-6286.
