Notice in effect for residents west of SR 7/US 441 in Tamarac

TAMARAC, Fla. – A precautionary boil water notice has been put into effect for residents west of State Road 7/U.S. 441 in Tamarac.

The city said testing conducted Friday on one of the untreated ground wells in the City of Tamarac's public water system detected E. coli bacteria.

Authorities said this was found in only one well whose water had not yet been treated. City officials said that well has been shut down, pending follow-up testing.

Additional sampling from this well and from the water distribution system has begun to ensure the water is safe, officials said.

The City of Tamarac said this "precautionary boil water notice" will remain in effect through Sunday, or until a 2-day bacteriological survey shows no evidence of coliform bacteria.
