POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – An 11-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle while crossing along the 600 block of Dixie Highway Friday afternoon and airlifted to the hospital.
Witnesses told deputies the boy was running from Pompano Middle School and sprinted across Dixie Highway when he was struck by a 1991 Chevrolet Caprice, driven by George Hurdus, 53.
The boy was treated at the scene and transported to Broward Health Medical Center by BSO Air Rescue.
The victim, identified as Alfonzo Morgan, sustained non life-threatening injuries.
No charges were filed against the driver.
