Boynton Beach housekeeper accused of stealing jewelry from older clients' homes

Karla Elvir is accused of stealing jewelry from older clients' homes and then taking them to pawn shops.

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. -

A South Florida housekeeper has been arrested after she repeatedly stole jewelry from older clients' homes, authorities said.

Karla Elvir, 25, of Boynton Beach, is accused of stealing 28 pieces of jewelry and then taking them to pawn shops.

Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office deputies said the thefts took place between March and June, and Elvir received about $6,000 from the pawn shops.

She faces numerous charges, including theft, exploitation of the elderly, false verification of ownership and dealing stolen property.

Elvir was being held on $24,000 bond.
