Actress and 'Dancing with the Stars' host Brooke Burke made her way into South Florida Wednesday for the national kick off of 'Bra Day,' which stands for breast cancer reconstruction awareness.
At the event, which is organized by the Memorial Cancer Institute, Burke shared her own experience with thyroid cancer, and why she's so passionate about breast cancer awareness.

"Fortunately today, with modern medicine, there are options, even with mastectomies, double mastectomises there are possibilities and making women aware of that is so important," said Burke.
Through her own diagnosis, Burke says she has learned firsthand the importance of getting an annual physical exam, and encourages everyone to take advantage of preventative screenings.
