Flagler High School principal arrested on rape charge

Peter Nicholson accused of raping school employee

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – The principal of a charter high school in Broward County was arrested Wednesday after he raped a school employee, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said the incident happened on the grounds of Flagler High School.

Investigators said Peter Nicholson, 55, and the woman were working at the Pompano Beach school alone on a Saturday in October when Nicholson started making sexual advances. When she told him to stop, he forcibly pulled her pants down and raped her, the woman told deputies.

"He forced her to have sex with him," BSO spokeswoman Dani Moschella said.

The woman did not report the crime until Feb. 21, telling investigators she was afraid she would lose her job.

Nicholson, who has worked at numerous other public schools in Broward County since 1996, has been placed on administrative leave.

Moschella said Nicholson apologized for the incident and said he should not have abused his authority.
