BSO deputy airlifted after crash in Lauderdale Lakes

Broward sheriff's deputy airlifted after trying to avoid car on street, hitting wall

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. – A deputy with the Broward Sheriff's Office was airlifted to the hospital after a crash, police say.

The incident happened around 9:50 p.m. Friday at 19th Street and 35th Avenue in Lauderdale Lakes.

BSO said they received a call of a shooting in Lauderdale Lakes around 8:40 p.m. Friday.

A District 5 deputy was responding to help in the call of the shooting when BSO said he lost control of his vehicle and struck a wall.

Deputies said the shooting was unfounded, but the BSO helicopter had already been deployed to assist in the call.

When the accident took place, deputies said the helicopter that was flying overhead in the area quickly landed and transported the deputy to Broward Health Medical Center.

The male deputy suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and was conscious and breathing, according to the Sheriff's Office.
