This was not an intentional fast-food drive-thru.
Early Saturday morning, the driver of a Hyundai Elantra was traveling northbound on Biscayne Boulevard when it collided with a tractor trailer. The driver of the tractor trailer was traveling eastbound on Northeast 79th Street.
"The impact sent the car into the Wendy's parking lot, hitting the building," Miami Fire Rescue Lt. Ignatius Carroll said in an e-mail. "A guard rail prevented the car from causing major damage to the restaurant."
A rail prevented serious damage to the Wendy's restaurant building, 7801 Biscayne Boulevard, so they were open for business Saturday.
The 28-year-old unidentified woman driving the Hyundai suffered minor injuries. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured. Police are investigating the crash.
