Clifson Cerve leads police on chase, kills self

Police say man fatally shot girlfriend in Pembroke Pines

BOCA RATON, Fla. – A man accused of fatally shooting his girlfriend at their Pembroke Pines apartment led police on a chase in southern Palm Beach County before taking his own life, police said.

Clifson Cerve was identified by police as the man who shot himself in his car Thursday afternoon.

Pembroke Pines police were called to a shooting at the Harbour Cove apartments, 1555 SW 109th Ave., shortly before 2:30 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found Anuska Dillon dead from a gunshot wound to the head. Her body was discovered in the master bedroom.

Police said Cerve and Dillon had just moved into the apartment Saturday.

Family members told Local 10's Christina Vazquez that Dillon was five months pregnant. They said she was going to learn the baby's sex Thursday.

Dillon's 6-year-old daughter from a previous relationship was in the apartment at the time of the shooting, but she was not injured.

Boynton Beach police spokeswoman Stephanie Slater said officers spotted the white 2001 Nissan Maxima that Cerve was believed to be driving.

Police say Clifson Cerve killed himself after a chase in southern Palm Beach County.

Police attempted a traffic stop as the car headed south on Interstate 95, but the driver refused to comply and crashed just south of the Congress Avenue exit in Boca Raton.

Slater said officers ordered the suspect out of the car, but he ignored their commands and shot himself in the head.

Cerve was taken to Delray Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
