43-year-old man 'in need of urgent medical care' hospitalized

The U.S. Coast Guard rescued a man who was injured on a cargo ship off Marathon.

MARATHON, Fla. – The U.S. Coast Guard airlifted a man who was injured Wednesday night on a cargo ship off the Florida Keys.

A Coast Guard helicopter from Miami Beach was used to hoist the 43-year-old man in need of urgent medical care from the CS Calvina, about 25 miles south of Marathon.

The victim was taken to Fisherman's Hospital for treatment.

A Coast Guard spokesman couldn't say the nature of the man's injury.
