Custom cleats stolen from Hialeah warehouse

Soles By Sir owner says burglary happened early Tuesday morning

HIALEAH, Fla. – A South Florida business owner who makes custom cleats and sneakers has immense success with his business, Soles by Sir, but someone stole dozens of items from his warehouse earlier this week.

Marcus Rivero said the burglary happened early Tuesday morning at his Hialeah warehouse.

"I mean, I started this on my couch in my house," Rivero said. "It was just one shoe and one cardboard box. I never imagined getting to where I've gotten."

Rivero said about 65 cleats valued between $25,000 to $30,000 in total were stolen.

"They're stuff that's basically works of art," Rivero said. "They're one of one. They'll never be duplicated. So if you show me 100 kids and one of them had mine, I could spot him out in a heartbeat."

Some of the cleats and sneakers have been ordered by big-time clients, such as the Miami Dolphins' Cameron Wake and the San Francisco 49ers' Reggie Bush.

Some of the custom cleats that were stolen hadn't yet been released.

"I've got a lot of projects with Adidas (that) I can't really get into, per se, but there's a lot of stuff from that that they took," Rivero said.

Rivero said a nearby business has surveillance video of the burglary, which has been given to police. He said his focus is to get back what's rightfully his.

"I've already offered (a) $1,000 (reward) on social media," Rivero said. "I'm willing to almost double that. I need these cleats back."

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
