Incident related to fatal shooting in Plantation

DAVIE, Fla. – Davie police took one man into custody following a fatal shooting at an apartment in Plantation on Wednesday evening.

Police took 25-year-old Juan Machin Jr. into custody without incident Thursday morning in the 13900 block of South Cypress Cove Circle after receiving a tip that he was inside a home with two women. He was wanted for questioning in the shooting death of Joel Rosillo.

About 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, police say a man found the body of Rosillo, his 26-year-old son, inside an apartment at 10757 Creary Boulevard.

Charges weren't immediately filed against Machin. The women inside the home with him were being questioned by police.

A nearby school imposed a lockdown while officers searched for Machin but it was later lifted.

Police records say Rosillo was arrested by Lauderhill police on Oct. 12 on drug possession charges and carrying a concealed firearm. His criminal history includes charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, criminal mischief, and battery on a law enforcement officer.

Machin's criminal history includes charges of drug possession, burglary, battery, petit theft, and dealing in stolen property, according to police records.
