BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. – The Department of Children and Families is investigating the possible abuse of a 5-month-old South Florida boy who died this week.
Agency spokeswoman Paige Patterson said investigators also took a 2-year-old girl from the care of the parents after the infant was taken to Bethesda Hospital East last Friday.

Boynton Beach police Officer Jaclyn Smith said the boy was transferred to Delray Medical Center, where he died Tuesday.
A police report said the boy was taken to the hospital after his parents noticed that he was lethargic and his eyes were rolling toward the back of his head.
Smith said the boy's cause of death remains under investigation.
