Detectives searching for man in Oakland Park gas station robbery

Gunman to clerk: 'Do you want to see your family tonight?'

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – Broward Sheriff's Office detectives are searching for an armed man who made an unwelcome visit to an Oakland Park gas station June 26 and fled with all the money in the cash registers.

The crime was captured on the store's surveillance cameras.

About 11:15 p.m., the store clerk at a Marathon gas station on North Dixie Highway was surprised by an armed masked man.

BSO spokeswoman Gina Carter said the gunman told the clerk not to be a hero and then said, "Do you want to see your family tonight?"

Carter said the robber then demanded all of the money in both cash registers and ran out of the store.

The man was wearing a black jacket with "Kent Security" printed on the back.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact BSO Detective Mohammad Razi at 954-321-4547 or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
