Crews pulled a car out of a Southwest Ranches canal early Sunday morning.

Southwest Ranches, Fla. – One person was hospitalized early Sunday morning after being pulled from a canal in Southwest Ranches.

According to BSO spokesperson Mike Jachles, emergency crews were called after a car somehow ended up in a canal along U.S. 27, just north of Griffin Road.

When firefighters arrived, the car was fully submerged. One victim was rescued and taken to the Cleveland Clinic. It appears the car went into the canal, across from the Seminole Truck Stop, around 11:45 p.m. Saturday.

Rescue divers spent about an hour searching for additional victims. BSO's Marine Unit then continued the search in recovery mode, but as of early Sunday morning, have not found any other victims. BSO Air Rescue also was deployed to help crews on the ground.

Jachles said there was also an unconfirmed report that a motorcycle may have been involved in the crash, but no evidence has materialized.

Early Sunday, there was no word on that victim's condition, how the car ended up in the water or if there were any other people in the car at the time.
