KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. – A cardiologist visiting South Florida from Philadelphia performed CPR on a boy who nearly drowned in a pool at the Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne.
Dr. Amir Siadatan said a Good Samaritan pulled the unresponsive 5-year-old boy out of the pool about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. The doctor then began performing CPR.
"Within 60, 65 seconds, he started vomiting a little bit," said Siadatan. "Thank God that I was there."
The boy was transported to Miami Children's Hospital in critical condition.
The Ritz-Carlton released the following statement Wednesday evening to Local 10 about the incident:
"We can confirm there was an incident at the hotel pool involving a minor guest. As soon as we were made aware of the situation hotel personnel responded immediately as well as contacted rescue personnel. The minor guest was transported to the hospital where he has received treatment. At this time we do not have any additional information to provide."
