Dog killed in Miami police-involved shooting

Police say stray dog attacked police horse

MIAMI – A dog was killed in a police-involved shooting at a Little Havana park.

Miami police Officer Kenia Reyes said the shooting happened Tuesday afternoon at Domino Park.

Witnesses told Local 10 News reporter Andrew Perez the stray dog attacked a police horse, and the officer was forced to shoot the animal.

They said the officer tried to get the mix-breed dog away from the horse, but the dog wouldn't let up.

The horse was taken to her stable and is being treated for bite marks on her front and hind legs.

Police said they are investigating the incident per protocol.
