Meeting with Royal Bahamas officials

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The father and brother of murdered teen Marissa Karp are traveling to Nassau Bahamas next week.

Gary and Josh Karp are expected to meet with top officials of the Royal Bahamas Police after the recent murder of Randolph Almonto Coakley, a fugitive who had close ties to Karp.

"We are looking for answers," said Gary Karp, Marissa's father. "We believe we will get them there."

Karp admits he is running out of options, but just sitting around isn't an option either.

The two will leave for Nassau Monday, May 6, after holding a press conference at Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport at 10:00 a.m.

They plan on being armed with reward fliers and an undaunted determination to get to the bottom of this decade old story.

"It reads like a page from a unfinished crime novel," Karp said. "Murder, mayhem and more murder, all tied to the drug rip off of a Columbian drug cartel."

Karp believes his 17-year-old daughter unknowingly stepped right in the middle, and he plans to lay it out for the media on May 6.

"People used to think I had a great imagination, but are now realizing I know what I am talking about," Karp said. "After meeting with police officials in Nassau, we will be doing media interviews and hitting the streets where Coakley was murdered.

The two are hoping to bring new attention to the case, and hoping that the $12,800 reward will jog someone's memory.

Gary Karp, a member of the board of directors of Broward County Crime Stoppers, is urging members of the media to travel with him.

"The Crime Stoppers program really works," Karp said. "It is a partnership between the public, the media and law enforcement. Tipsters remain anonymous and collect tax free cash.

Karp says he is counting on the media to over publicize the story. He believes since interest has dwindled over the years, this may be one of his last opportunities

Anyone with information about the murder of Marissa Karp is asked to call either Broward Crime Stoppers at 1-866-493-TIPS (8477) or Nassau Bahamas Crime Stoppers at 242-328-8477(TIPS)
