Fired Miami firefighter pleads not guilty to child porn charges

Attorney for Alexander Rousseau cautions against passing judgment

MIAMI – A former Miami firefighter who was arrested on federal child pornography charges entered a plea of not guilty in court Monday morning.

Alexander Rousseau, 30, is accused of downloading hundreds of files containing child porn while at work at Miami fire station No. 6.

"Remember, these are only accusations," attorney Joel DeFabio told Local 10. "No one has seen any evidence or proof."

DeFabio said his client's side will be presented during a jury trial.

Rousseau had been a firefighter with the Miami Fire Department since 2007. He was arrested April 7 and fired shortly after his initial court appearance.

He was being held at a federal detention facility without bond.

"We were disappointed that he was not given a bond previously because of his lengthy service to the community, and obviously that will be part of the case that is presented," DeFabio said.
