Firefighters go to new heights to rescue a pelican in trouble.

Miami-Dade County firefighters used a ladder truck to rescue a pelican stuck in tree at Haulover Beach Wednesday morning.

Sky 10 was above the scene as the pelican, hanging by a fishing line, struggled to free itself.

A ladder truck soon arrived at the scene and the rescue began.

The bird didn't put up much of a fight as its hero patiently worked to free it from it's perch.

A few minutes later, the freed bird was carried down.

A crew from Pelican Harbor Seabird Station waited below to take the bird to be checked out.

It was just another day at the office for our local firefighters, and a reminder that you don't have to look far to find a hero.
