Teen stabs man during sexual encounter at South Fla. hotel

Brandon Hinck, 19, faces attempted murder charge

LAUDERDALE-BY-THE-SEA, Fla. – Broward Sheriff's Office deputies have arrested a teenager after he allegedly stabbed a man during a sexual encounter.

Brandon Hinck, 19, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of attempted murder after he confessed to a hotel desk attendant that he just stabbed a man who had answered a Craigslist ad soliciting the tryst.

According to the arrest report, Hinck and Dave Sero, 49, met at a Boca Raton gas station after Sero had answered the original online ad.

The two agreed to have sex and went to Hinck's room at the Florida Beach Hotel in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea.

While Sero was lying naked on the hotel room bed, Hinck began stabbing him.

After a struggle inside the room, Sero ran to the elevator while Hinck ran down the stairs.

Hotel employees found a bloodied Sero in the elevator when it reached the lobby and called for help. Hinck, also covered in blood, then told the hotel staff that he had stabbed Sero.

Sero was taken to the hospital suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Detectives said they believe Hinck arrived in South Florida a few weeks ago and are looking for anyone else who may have had a violent encounter with him.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
