Fundraiser held to support families of officers killed

Fla. Tour de Force bike ride lasts 5 days, 270 miles

SUNNY ISLES BEACH, Fla. – To honor those who have fallen in the line of duty, citizens and police officers have taken out their bicycles to be a part of a fundraiser made to support the families of four Florida officers killed in 2013.

Since 1997 the organization Tour de Force has organized the five-day bike ride. This year's ride kicked off Monday at 10 a.m. in Sunny Isles Beach.

The 270-mile bike ride will conclude in Daytona Beach, and participants will eat and refresh in Denny's diners along the way. Denny's has donated about $86,000 since becoming Tour de Force's main sponsor.

This year's goal is to raise more than $75,000 for the families of those officers killed in 2013.
