Funeral planned for deputy who died after crash

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -

The Broward Sheriff's Office announced visitation and funeral plans for a deputy who died more than a week after crashing his car.

Daniel Rivera died late Saturday. On Sept. 11, he crashed into a palm tree off Interstate 95 near Copans Road.

The visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of Pompano Beach, 138 NE 1st Street, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday. The funeral will be held at Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale, 2401 W. Cypress Creek Road, at 11 a.m. Friday.

The burial at Our Lady Queen of Heaven, 1400 S.R. 7, North Lauderdale, will follow the funeral.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call the Broward Sheriff's Office Traffic Homicide unit at 654-321-4840.
