George Zimmerman to box for charity

Zimmerman says boxing was a hobby 'before the incident'

George Zimmerman is stepping into the boxing ring.

Zimmerman confirmed the news on his Twitter account Thursday.

Boxing promoter Damon Feldman is organizing the event.  There's no word yet on who Zimmerman will box for the fight March 1 that will air on Pay Per View.

Zimmerman told RadarOnline.com that it was his idea, and that boxing was a hobby he had "before the incident."

The "incident" being the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in Sanford in 2012.  Zimmerman was acquitted in July.

Part of the proceeds for the fight will be donated to an animal rescue charity, Zimmerman said.
