Heavy rains cause roof leak at Miami Beach synagogue

Miami Beach synagogue continues service despite roof leak

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – A South Beach synagogue is soaked after this past week's heavy rains caused damage to its roof.

Despite the roof leaking and flooding, Rabbi Zev Katz said services at the Chabad House in Miami Beach will continue.

The Rabbi said they tried to fix the issue, but the problem still remains due to the pouring rains from Thursday's storm.

"We tried to hire a roofer to fix it, but they said they can't do anything because it keeps on raining," said Katz. "You have to wait until it stops raining to dry out the roof."

At least 6.8 inches of rain fell since Thursday, making it a record rainfall for Miami Beach.

The Chabad will be hiring a roofer to fix the leaks as soon as the rain stops.
