Homestead man assaults disabled patient, police say

Carlos Cuzan, 44, charged with battery on a disabled adult

HOMESTEAD, Fla. – A man from Homestead is facing felony charges after he assaulted a patient who suffers from schizophrenia, the state attorney general's office reports.

According to authorities, a co-worker witnessed Carlos Cuzan, 44, punch the victim several times in the face while he was employed as a medical health technician by the South Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center.

The victim was treated for a laceration to his lip.

Cuzan is charged with one count of battery on a disabled adult, which is a third-degree felony.

Cuzan faces up to five years in prison if convicted.
