Intruder beats woman, steals laptop and breast pump

Suspect used hammer to break down back door

MIAMI – Police have released surveillance video of a man seen casing the area behind a victim's home about an hour before he broke in Sunday night.

Police say a woman, her two young boys, and their grandmother were inside the home at along SW 22 Terrace when the man reportedly used a hammer he found in the backyard to break down the back door, while the mother was breast feeding.

The mother exclusively tells Local10 she grabbed her baby and fled to her second child's room while the suspect chased her yelling for money.

She says her mother, a woman in her late 60s, ran out of the shower and was confronted by the suspect who allegedly began punching and kicking her.

Once the suspect began rummaging through the home the mother escaped through a bedroom window and ran to a neighbors home for help.

Police say the man stole a laptop, iPad case and a breast pump from the home before jumping the back fence.

He is described as a white male in his 30s or 40s, about 6 foot 2 inches tall, and approximately 220 pounds. He has short hair, facial hair, a pointy nose and a brightly colored tattoo on his shoulder or arm.
